The Rangers have some very ancient traditions indeed, some of them may sound a little odd to the non-rangers out there, but to the Rangers these traditions are very important.

Ranger Tea

In the days before Drakenwood town, the forest stretched from the mountains to the sea, slowly changing colour with the seasons. In time, men came to the woods. The first pioneers, hunters, outcasts, understood the forest, and traded, warred, lived with the elves and other denizens of the Wild Wood. The tribes of Drakenwood frequently warred over the resources of the forest. Naturally there were bleeding-heart liberal tree-huggers amongst them who suggested that peaceful discussions were the way forward.. man!

And naturally, being hippies, they introduced the idea of a 'peace pipe' to break the ice. Alas, the first host of such a meeting slipped too much ganja into the pipe, and had his men butcher the doped-up rivals. The next great idea was to talk things through over a pint of two. Whilst this was in theory a fine idea, the ensuing brawl (started, alleged by someone looking at someone else's Falcon 'ere, you looking at my bird?') was deemed to have done little to help matters.

Therefore, it was settled upon to provide a range of hot and cold soft drinks - fruit juices, a strong drink made from tree sap and, of course, tea. The tradition has remained with the rangers, even as the forest shrinks and fewer woodland folk remain. Favourite ranger tea blends include a tea made from wuzzie fur and crushed leaves.

By Stranger.
